This article describes how to use the Forecast FDR History viewer available on the weather page of the EM-COP Desktop.
OVERVIEW
Forecast FDR History Viewer allows the forecasted Fire Danger Ratings (FDR) on a given day to be viewed for each fire weather district along with any total fire ban that was declared.
FDRs are forecast using Bureau of Meterology (BoM) data, based on weather and other environmental conditions. The BoM generally publishes FDRs from 1 November to 30 April and may publish FDRs at other times if conditions dictate.
FDRs are forecast up to four days in advance. The FDR for the next day will usually be updated at 16:00, then updated again at around 05:30 on the day. FDRs may also be updated again later in the morning if required.
Select a day, month and year to select a date to view or click a day in the calendar. The controls below the calendar can also be used to change days and months. The Forecast FDRs for that day will be shown below the calendar, in order of issue. The first set shown will be the last forecast from the previous day, valid from midnight. Any subsequent forecasts issued on the day will be shown below with the starting time they are valid for. Please note that you can't select a date beyond today.
The FDR viewer is optimised for online use. The page auto sizes to the available screen width and height with a fixed header and footer and provides a vertical scroll bar to view the main content. The scroll bar can be used to scroll down to view the available forecasts for the day.
The accumulated set of forecasts for the period from 01 July 2014 to the current day can be downloaded as a ZIP file here. The ZIP file contains the FDR history as comma separated values (CSV) and a ReadMe.txt file. Please refer to the ReadMe file for information on how to view and interpret the data in the CSV file.
